We’ve been reading a lot about Herdade do Rocim recently, and though we haven’t had a chance to visit this year, we stopped in at the great Art Deco Wine Bar in Beja (perhaps the only cafe bar in Portugal without a TV!) and it was good to see they had a range of Rocim by the glass.
We went for a white, the ‘Olho de Mocho’, which was a lovely pale lemon colour, and had surprisingly delicate blossom and citrus notes on the nose, considering how far south the vineyard is. Tasted nice and tangy, some pineapple with the slightest touch of cream. Seems to me to sit nicely in between the fresher and richer style of Portuguese white. Very much looking forward to tasting more of the range, and pleased to see the wines are all organic.
